“Octavia’s First Flight”
When I set out to plan a workshop for Nashville with The Boudoir Class I thought about my expertise, where that lies, and where it intercepts with my passions. I easily fell upon the subject of kink, something that is incredibly taboo yet so beautiful and empowering. I called upon who else but Sara Starchild, aka Miss Couple. A budding Boudoir Photographer, legendary Professional Domme, and author on the subject, Sara has been featured in Vice, Playboy, The Rolling Stone, Cosmopolitan, The Huffington Post, Bustle, The Daily Beast, People, and more.
We have created an exciting curriculum that will teach students how to knowledgeably and responsibly use BDSM to create award-winning images. The workshop will include a theory and demo portion, and students will be afforded plenty of instructor-guided free shooting time with professional models. Creating a safe space for clients through using important vocabulary and safety precautions will be touched upon, as well as learning to tell a story and capture meaningful moments. I’ll be sharing my best-selling dominant and submissive poses, and Sara will be utilizing implements such as crops, leashes, and collars, and sharing her incredible rope art with us as well.
This past weekend we were granted access to a truly breathtaking property in the Catskills. We spent hours talking, laughing, and creating beautiful art in a wonderfully warm and safe space. Lovingly dubbed “Octavia’s first flight” we had the honor of facilitating her first suspension, a truly magnificent experience. Sarah, ever the professional, sat with her beforehand and explained what she might feel, what to look out for, how to communicate mental or physical discomfort, and answered any questions that she had. They started slowly with a Gun Slinger hip harness while O got comfortable, and then added a box tie harness on top before suspending her fully off the ground as the sunlight beamed through the window, bathing everything in a golden light.
